It's Not D.C. But It'll Work for Me

Well I had the most perfect plans to be in D.C. this Fourth of July weekend with a couple friends. We had the flights books weeks ago and were all packed (it takes me forever to pack because I loathe the activity) and beyond excited as we arrived at the airport yesterday afternoon 1.5 hours early for our 4:30 flight.

To make a long, sob story short, after a 3 hour delay, they announced that they would use our plane (that was sitting on the tarmac) to fly (empty) to Cleveland.

Cancelled.

No flights for the rest of the night.

No flights Friday.

Plans ruined.

^ Real mascara tears.

After crying and venting on the car ride home, I decided we would make the 4th as fun as possible. Yes, nothing would compare to the plans we had, but there is nothing we could do about that now.

So I had a few more good cries, a hefty dessert, and went to bed.

I woke up today and went on a nice long run, hung out around the house with my family (it was a rainy day where I live), and then went out to my favorite restaurant with one of my brothers and my parents.

Now I'm headed to a friends house to have a little Red White & Blue party.

I may not be lucky enough to be in Washington, D.C., but I am lucky to be forever free because I get to live in this amazing country.

Happy Fourth of July friends, I hope you have a fun filled weekend!
